TIMING!
Have you ever wondered if what you are praying for will ever come true? There is one facet of the Christian life that trumps our hope, trumps our faith, and trumps everything else – it is called timing:
"For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time It hurries toward the goal [of fulfillment]; it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it, Because it will certainly come; it will not delay. Habakuk 2:3 (AMP)
We rejoice when God does something, especially if it’s one of those ‘right now’ kind of blessings. We get discouraged when we have to wait. Yet, God is not just interested in our reaching a destination, He’s interested in the journey, the way we take to get there. When you’re suffering, or are in need of something in particular, when all of your hopes are placed on getting that job, or getting in that particular school; it’s hard to wait. Sometimes the waiting gets to be so long, we even wonder if God is somehow punishing us.
How can we bypass the anxiety and stress associated with waiting? I don’t know. I haven’t discovered it to the extent that I can offer a cure. All I can say on this side of "waiting on the Lord" for different things almost fifty years is that somehow along the way, you begin to realize that you can’t rush God. You also realize that because of what He did before, He will do it again. You find peace in knowing that those times when He didn’t come through right when you wanted Him to, was because He had a much bigger plan in mind and when it came – all you could say was WOW! You also learn that He’s more faithful than a brother, more loving than a mother, more dependable than any trusted friend. What it boils down to is along the way you get to know HIM – and you realize:
God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19)
