WAIT!
There is one word we don’t like to hear, that is to "wait". In our fast-paced society, we are used to things moving quickly. What used to be an acceptable ‘wait’ time, now causes stress and anxiety, and sometimes even anger. We expect our waiters and cooks to move quickly, (even though we still want fresh cooked food);we want the cashiers to move the line so we don’t have to wait (forget the other customers). We want a negative report to somehow instantly change into a positive one – and get indignant when it doesn’t. Exams are now given on computers so that you don’t have to wait two weeks or longer for results, they come up immediately!
Our Father God thinks that sometimes it is important to wait:
Wait for and confidently expect the Lordwait for and confidently expect the Lord. Psalm 27:14 (AMP)
There is something that takes place in our heart and our character when after a period of waiting, we find that God was moving all along in producing our desired request. Just as a star athlete does not reach their peak in one or two days of trying, neither will we reach an appropriate faith and confidence in God without – waiting – for some things to come to pass.
Interestingly enough, we are not the only one who waits:
Therefore the Lord waits [expectantly] and longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
Blessed (happy, fortunate) are all those who long for Him [since He will never fail them].
19 [O people in Zion, inhabitant in Jerusalem, you will weep no longer. He will most certainly be gracious to you at the sound of your cry for help; when He hears it, He will answer you. Isaiah 30 18-19 (AMP)
Just as we are waiting on God, God is waiting on us.
Selah,
Maria
