RELEASE!

There are some words that not only have one meaning, but they serve more than one function in the English language. Such a word is "release" :

verb: to set free from constraint or confinement

noun: a discharge from obligation or responsibility

Note the differences of usage of release in this passage of scripture:

"At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release (remission, pardon) from debt. This is the regulation for the release: every creditor shall forgive what he has loaned to his neighbor; he shall not require repayment from his neighbor and his brother, because the Lord’s release has been proclaimed. You may require repayment from a foreigner, but whatever of yours is with your brother [Israelite] your hand shall release. …Deuteronomy 15:1-3 (MSG)

While grammar may not be your strong suit (neither is it mine); it is not difficult to see that the term "release’" used above is both something you do and something that is. We as believers are similar to this term, for to believe is something we do, and something we are. In fact, if you look at many action words in scripture, you will find that they may start off as something that you do, but end up being a part of who you are.

We as human beings made in the image of God are three parts – body, soul and spirit. Each part of us have a function, yet in order to live our best life each part of us must not only be in harmony, but in sync with the other. We have a model of how this works when we look at Jesus, who was not only God, but man, filled with the Spirit – each part of this Triune God working in sync with the other.

How much could we release  and be released if we did as Jesus did when He walked this earth:

Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.John 8:28-29 (KJV)
