Praying, Still…

As we conclude this week of prayer,  the emphasis today is on praying for our spiritual leaders…

Father we thank You for providing for us all that we need to lead us into "life and godliness". We thank You for giving us spiritual leaders who have been called by You to teach Your people Your Word. We thank You for the commitment they have made to be servants, teachers, preachers and friends to Your people. We ask that You bless them, give them health and strength for the many demands of the ministry. We ask that You bless their wives and husbands, their children, their extended family and friends. Give them supporters who will walk with them through their journey, who are willing to give a listening ear and a caring heart. We ask that You give them mentors and counselors to speak into their lives and who will hold them accountable to continuing to "prosper even as their soul prospers".

We ask that You speak directly to their hearts the "words of life" to lead them and guide them into all truth; yet give them a discipline to always turn to Your Word for confirmation.  We ask that You encamp them with angels all around them so that no hurt, harm, or danger comes their way. Bring peace into their dwelling place that their families will have a safe place to become refreshed. We ask that You bring peace into their churches and the communities they dwell in. We ask that the spirit of aggressive criticism and intimidation be bound that truth would have free reign and the unadulterated gospel message would have  free course to bring souls into the Kingdom.

We thank You Lord for being "all" that they need you to be and to do "all" they need you to do. We thank you Lord for our leaders:

7-8 Appreciate your pastoral leaders who gave you the Word of God. Take a good look at the way they live, and let their faithfulness instruct you, as well as their truthfulness. There should be a consistency that runs through us all. For Jesus doesn’t change—yesterday, today, tomorrow, he’s always totally himself. Hebrews 13 :7-8 (MSG)
