Thank You Lord For Salvation!
When thinking about it, I realize that I don’t regularly thank God for salvation. Of course I am appreciative everyday of my life that God brought me out of darkness into His marvelous light; but that is not the same as actually taking the time to say thank-you. For it was entering through this door of salvation that my entire adult life has been shaped. As a child I was dependent the decisions of others, it affected not only what my day looked like, but also where I lived, what I ate, what I wore. I had little decision making ability because I could not take care of myself, I was dependent upon the decisions (or lack thereof) of others.
As I entered adulthood, I did begin to make decisions and often they were not good ones. Impulsive decisions based on momentary desires could have been even more destructive then they were. Yet with my twenty-first year, I had a decision to make that would impact the rest of my life – what would I do with Jesus? Was I going to ignore this Jesus who I was told would be a "friend that would stick closer than a brother"
So, today I want to say thank YOU:
Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant and boundless mercy has caused us to be born again [that is, to be reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] to an ever-living hope and confident assurance through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1Peter 1:3 (AMP)
Yes, He has been all of this and more to me. When I’ve let Him unreservedly be the Captain of my ship, He has led me "beside still waters, He has restored my soul’"! He has been a healer, a deliverer, an advocate, a counselor, a listening ear, an adviser, a waymaker, a father, a provider, an answer to confusion, a comforter to a wounded heart.
To say thank you seems so small for someone who has been so much to me, yet the English language does not afford me the opportunity to otherwise express my gratitude to the One who saved my life.
Maria
