Open Communication! by Shawn Smith

We’ve got so much to be thankful for, so many blessings, way too many to count. I’ve heard a multitude of thanksgivings this week. Reflections of all the great things that God has done in our lives. I am in agreement with them all. I also want to take the time to thank God for an open line of communication – prayer.

I often thank God for the privilege to come before Him in prayer. Now that I think about it, privilege may not be the right word. The dictionary defines privilege as a "a special right…granted or available only to a particular person or group of people". See, I know that’s not true when it comes to prayer. Thank God that we don’t have to belong to a particular group in order to talk to Him. Thank God that we don’t have to be given a certain right or special access in order to talk to Him.A ll we need is a burning desire to talk with God, to be in His  presence, to hear His voice and to have an intimate relationship with Him.

We all, every last one of us, have the opportunity to be watchmenintercessors. If we long to know Jesus, to know HIs will, to know Hi sway , and to know His Word, then we will understand that prayer is not just something we do, it’s a way of life. So, it is a privilege to pray if we consider the "particular group of people",to be God’s children, more so, it is an honor to pray to our Father.

I’m grateful that we don’t have to have a degree to even a high school diploma to talk to God. I’m grateful that we don’t have to be inside a church to talk to God. I’m grateful that we can talk to God wherever we are, as we are. A simple prayer can have a such a profound impact because God knows the heart behind that prayer.

"He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him." Psalm 91:14 NIV

"Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:12-13 NIV

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:7-NIV

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." John 14:7 NIV

"I thank God that I can call on Him at anytime and He’s there. There’s no busy signal I’m not put on hold and the line is never disconnected.

I consider it such an honor to pray to my Father in Heaven, Thank you, Daddy God!
