Are You Asking the Right Question?

Humankind has a way of settling things in their mind so they can attain some level of peace. Even followers of Christ, although assenting to the belief that Jesus came to pardon us of our sins, still have diverse doctrines which ascribe to the details. Who is right, who is wrong? It is probable that in this life we will never get a firm answer on this:

Frankly, I stand amazed at the unfathomable complexity of God’s wisdom and God’s knowledge. How could man ever understand his reasons for action, or explain his methods of working? For: ‘Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become his counsellor?’ ‘Or who has first given to him and it shall be repaid to him?’ Romans 11:33-35 (PHILLIPS)

While we search the scriptures and countless other books trying to figure God out; the Bible has already lets us know that we will never be able to do that. I’m so often reminded of the conversation between God and Booker T. Washington:

George Washington Carver was one of our great scientists, and he often prayed, addressing God as "Mr. Creator." One night he walked out into the woods and prayed, "Mr. Creator, why did you make the universe?" He listened, and this is what he heard: "Little man, that question is too big for you. Try another!" The next night he walked into the woods and prayed, "Mr. Creator, why did you make man [meaning, the human race]?" He listened and he heard this: "Little man, that question is still too big for you. Try another!"

The third night he went into the woods and prayed, "Mr. Creator, why did you make the peanut?" This is what he heard: "Little man, that question is just your size. You listen and I will teach you." And you may know that George Washington Carver invented some three hundred ways to use the peanut. Richard J. I’ve been known to asking some of the great questions of life, however, I’m beginning to realize I’d do a lot better just asking some "peanut" questions.
