THIS Follows THAT!

It’s a funny thing about life. You go along with a dream in your heart, or even determine a goal, and try as you might, it just doesn’t seem to work. Then all of a sudden, an event occurs and like an avalanche everything comes together!

I think about the years I was bearing children. For one thing it seemed as if it would never end. Somehow I knew that there were certain things that were not going to happen until I finished having children because I was needed at home. Try as I might to go to work, or align myself with certain projects, it just wouldn’t come together. Sure enough, when I stopped having children, even without any effort, certain things began to take place and God made up for the years that the locust and cankerworm had eaten. There were "suddenly" moments that there was no way that I could have orchestrated.

When I think about the following scripture, I wonder if God was dealing with Adam and Eve the same way:

Adam slept with his wife again. She had a son whom she named Seth. She said, "God has given me another child in place of Abel whom Cain killed." And then Seth had a son whom he named Enosh. That’s when men and women began praying and worshiping in the name of God. Genesis 4:26 (MSG)

We all know the story of Cain and Abel. What parent could imagine and thus try to prevent the jealousy that occurred with Cain killing Abel? Nothing like that had happened before because they were the first of mankind. As we read the above text we see that God gave them another son, Seth, and though life was better, it  seems as if things didn’t really start happening until Seth had Enosh – when that next generation came – so did revival! It seemed like then, men and women everywhere began "praying and worshipping in the name of God".

I don’t know whether this was coincidence, but I don’t really believe that there are coincidences with God. There seems to be a "set time" – the way the Bible describes it, it’s the "fullness of time". Does that we mean we shouldn’t dream, or plan, or set goals? No, I don’t think that ‘s the issue. Instead, like God spoke to the prophet Habakkuk:

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Habakkuk 2:3 (KJV)
