Only You Can See the Inside!
Most people today are very conscious of their appearance. Appearance ranks number one in most area of our day-to-day life. Since it is the first thing that people see, it is even more important than how we communicate. Unfortunately there are treasures in gold locked inside of people who don’t "appear" to be marketable.
Fortunately, there is One who looks beyond our exterior, deep inside of us. Although God wants us to prosper in all areas, even as our soul prospers – the first thing He is looking at is not our outside, but our soul:
Investigate my life, O God,
find out everything about me;
Cross-examine and test me,
get a clear picture of what I’m about;
See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong—
then guide me on the road to eternal life. Psalm 139:23 (MSG)
When we give permission to God to not only see (for He sees anyway), but also to test us – to dig deep and inquire what we’re about, then we can gain benefit. For God gives constructive feedback, not destructive. He will not only let us know where we’re off he beaten path, He will forgive us for our errs, and He will guide us back on the right path, giving us the power to walk on that path.
8-10 If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense. On the other hand, if we admit our sins—make a clean breast of them—he won’t let us down; he’ll be true to himself. He’ll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing. 1 John 1:8-10 (MSG)
Those who enter into Christ’s being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death. Romans 8:1-21 (MSG)
We’re in a new year, we can make a fresh start, with real power to do it right.
