The Prayer of A Giant Killer!

​People who dream great things are often the ones who do great things. People who pray great prayers see great answers to prayer. None of us could have known the effect of a prayer given one day by a young preacher:

O God,… we thank Thee for Thy Church, founded upon Thy Word, that challenges us to do more than sing and pray, but go out and work as though the very answer to our prayers depended on us and not upon Thee… Help us to realize that man was created to shine like the stars and live on through all eternity. Keep us, we pray, in perfect peace, help us to walk together, pray together, sing together, and live together until that day when all God’s children, Black, White, Red, and Yellow, will rejoice in one common band of humanity in the kingdom of our Lord and of our God, we pray. Amen. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. King worked for a day when people of every color and creed would join together in the Kingdom of our Lord. While  we still have inroads to go, there have been tremendous advancements toward this end and there are churches and other institutions throughout this country and the world who fulfill that prayer of working together, praying together and living together. Dr. King was a visionary who put feet to his vision. He didn’t just talk about what his vision included, he prayed and worked tirelessly throughout his life to see that it came to pass. 

Each of us have dreams and a few of us have great visions. Whether our dream or vision be small or large, we like Dr. King, can take it to the One who can usher that dream or vision into TIME and place. We can do this through prayer.
