Now This is Love!

Editors NoteL For the past two or three weeks, our system underwent a change and our daily posts were not sent out. We were not aware of this at first, and then we were unable even to prepare them at all. Thanks be unto God, the system is now working and there is he ability to go back and read those you may not have received iff one interests you. Thanks to all of you who take time out of your day to see what we’ve got to say!

On this day traditionally set aside for lovers, what better time to give honor to the lover of our souls:

7 My loved ones, let us devote ourselves to loving one another. Love comes straight from God, and everyone who loves is born of God and truly knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:7-8 (The Voice)

One  marvelous thing about this lover is that He is not selfish, He doesn’t want all of our affection. He is willing to share it, in fact the greatest accolades we can give to this lover is to love those around us. The one caveat is that He doesn’t want us to be selective – He wants us to love everybody! Because it is a sign that we really love HIM, He has even said that if we don’t love others, we don’t even know HIM – why, because HE is the very essence of LOVE – God is LOVE!

This gets kind of tricky when we run into those people that grate our nerves, or are mean-spirited, or even hateful. How can we love people like this? The amazing thing about this lover is that He deposits within each of us a reservoir of Himself:

"The One that God sent speaks God’s words. And don’t think he rations out the Spirit in bits and pieces. The Father loves the Son extravagantly. He turned everything over to him so he could give it away—a lavish distribution of gifts. That is why whoever accepts and trusts the Son gets in on everything, life complete and forever! And that is also why the person who avoids and distrusts the Son is in the dark and doesn’t see life. All he experiences of God is darkness, and an angry darkness at that." John 3:34-35 (The Voice)

Share some of that God-love today,
Maria
