It’s All About Perspective!
It’s a funny thing about people. Two people can be standing in the same room, looking at the same things and when asked to describe what they see, there will be two totally different descriptions. Is one wrong? Not necessarily, for in this life we have to take into consideration that each of us see things from our own perspective. By definition perspective includes both the capturing of an object or objects to give the right representation of that object, and a particular attitude or point of view regarding something. This last definition can be carried throughout our life experiences, we have one perspective as a teenager – this drastically changes when we become a parent of a teenager.
Living our life for Christ necessitates us having a Godly perspective, for if we maintain a human perspective we can lose out on much of what this Christian life affords:
1-2 So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.
3-4 Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ. Colossians 3:1-4 (MSG)
Jesus had to settle something when He left His heavenly dominion and came to earth. He was going to be despised, rejected, humiliated, lied on, beaten, and ultimately killed. He was honor bound to walk for thirty-three years on this earth as unbeknownst to man, yet highly esteemed by God. It was because He knew who He was that He could do this. He didn’t have to have His credentials on a calling card, or pull HIs resume out of a satchel – He didn’t bear a unique feature which made Him stand out from those He walked among – no Heculean stature.
Instead, He humbly walked through this earth, on a mission, but not imposing His mission. In fact the scripture says of Him:
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Acts 10:38 (KJV)
Imagine having the means to save the world from death and destruction and not forcing people to receive it!
A good friend of mine advised me when I was struggling with some issues regarding my calling, "JUST BE"! We don’t have to prove anything. When it comes down to it, it’s all about perspective. We are who we are by the grace of God. We’re called to do what we do by that same grace. Whose report do we clamor to receive, God or man’s.
