Why Do They Want to Silence Us?
One thing about our culture today is the massive fight that those who oppose Christianity have with it. Why do they care if there are crosses on display since they don’t believe any way? Why do they care if there is a Bible study on campus or prayer in the schools – since they don’t believe that there is anything to it, why do they want to silence it?
The answer is clear. There is a tendency among mankind to fear those things that have power, that you cannot understand. The major reason that those who don’t believe in Christ want to silence anyone who does, is because they really know that there is truth in Jesus, and when that truth is revealed, it has an amazing capacity to influence others to believe:
18 For people who are stumbling toward ruin, the message of the cross is nothing but a tall tale for fools by a fool. But for those of us who are already experiencing the reality of being rescued and made right, it is nothing short of God’s power. 1 Corinthians 1:18 (The Voce0
Unbelievers can rant and rave all day about the foolishness of the message of a man from Galilee who said He was sent from God to bring salvation to men on earth. They can belittle HIs steadfast believers, they can mock the words of the Bible, they can reject the display of His greatness which shines through His creation.l Nothing takes away the power of God, or HIs majesty or HIs glory!
Step back for a minute and look at the cultural nuances they want us to accept today and legislate – homosexuality, transgenderism, abortion…then think back to the first book of the Bible in the first chapter:
God: 26 Now let Us conceive a new creation—humanity—made in Our image, fashioned according to Our likeness. And let Us grant them authority over all the earth—the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, the domesticated animals and the small creeping creatures on the earth.
27 So God did just that. He created humanity in His image, created them male and female. 28 Then God blessed them and gave them this directive: "Be fruitful and multiply. Populate the earth. I make you trustees of My estate, so care for My creation and rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that roams across the earth."
The crown of God’s creation is a new creature, a creature that can sound the heartbeat of its Creator. That creature, made male and female, reflects God’s own relational richness. The human family is to join God in the ongoing work of creation. The earth below and the sky above with all their inhabitants are too beautiful and too good to be left alone. They need the tender care and close attention that only God’s favored creature can give. Genesis 1:26-27 (The Voice)
Can you see a conflict?
