Reflections On Mother’s Day – 2019!

One of the hardest things of all times is to have a child for a man who for whatever reason rejects the child. On days like Mother’s Day it is particularly painful. We don’t want the pain of that kind of rejection and who are struggling to raise their children alone to go unnoticed – rather we want to use that as an inertia to pray fervently that there will be a day when these situations will diminish, not increase. In fact we want to pray that the current situation where it is even acceptable in some circles to "share men" will no longer be acceptable:

[ A Remnant Prepared ] And in that day seven women will take hold of one man, saying, "We will eat our own food and wear [and provide] our own clothes; only let us be called by your name; take away our shame [of being unmarried]." Isaiah 4:1 ((AMP)

As you can see from the above passage the practice of sharing men to take away the reproach of being alone is not new. Yet no matter how far back this practice goes, or often it occurred, this is not an ideal situation for mothers or children. I believe that we have an opportunity to pray that mothers everywhere can be honored, not just on Mother’s Day but every day.

Honoring Mothers is not just for the women. It is also for the children, and not just girls, for boys too. When males see their mothers honored, they learn first hand what it means not just for the mother but for them. In most instances when they become an adult they will emulate that behavior. While there are many voices out there that feel that a two-parent home which has a vested interest in the children is not necessary, research abounds that speaks to the contrary.

Life may take us in unexpected situations – wars occur – people prematurely die – there can be countless other unexpected circumstances. Yet those situations should never be our standard. In the beginning God set a standard:

27 So God created man in His own image, in the image andlikeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, "Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power]; Genesis 1:27 (AMP)

We as followers of the cross are standard-bears and not just that, we are prayer warriors too! Will you pray with me for God  to raise up men to love their wives and their children and become the provider, protector and priest they are meant to be in their homes?
