More Than a Sparrow…
Today I visited a former missionary to Africa who served on the mission field for 34 years! Thirty-four years of God providing for her every need. Thirty-four years of seeing the Hand of God move over and over and over again. And even with her retirement from the mission field, He is still miraculously providing for her today. Testimony after testimony of both the grace and the provision of God extended to her. My faith was greatly enlarged today.
However, why should I be in awe? Doesn’t scripture affirm how God feels about our needs:
6–7 "What is the value of your soul to God? Could your worth be defined by an amount of money? God doesn’t abandon or forget even the small sparrow he has made. How then could he forget or abandon you? What about the seemingly minor issues of your life? Do they matter to God? Of course they do! So you never need to worry, for you are more valuable to God than anything else in this world. Luke 12:6-7 (The Passion Translation)
Just when we wonder whether God is looking at "that thing’ that we keep in our heart, wondering if it will ever come to pass, we run across a scripture like this, and we know… We know that God loves us, that He cares for us, and He wants to bless us, "more than anything else in this world".
So, let’s say to ourselves:
Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, Philippians 4:6 (The Passion Translation)
When no one else understands, God understands. When no one else can help, God sis the only One who can do what nobody else can do. "Have faith in God."
