A Day in Court!

 There is a familiar expression that says "everyone has their day in court". Of course it means that all of us will at some point or another have an opportunity to state our case. While this is good thought, it does not always appear true in real life. Many people have suffered injustices, wrongful sentencing and imprisionment at the hands of the judicial system.

There is one court however, where everyone who comes to it, is pardoned. This is the court that the Psalmist said he would rather dwell at the door, than be a favored guest any where else:

A single day in your courts
is better than a thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God
than live the good life in the homes of the wicked. Psalm 84:10 (NLT)

David knew from being in the presence of the Lord so often that even if he only had one day in the courts of God, that it was better than living a thousand days someplace else!

What does its mean to live in the courts of God? The next verse gives us an idea:

For the Lord God is our sun and our shield.
He gives us grace and glory.
The Lord will withhold no good thing
from those who do what is right.
¹² O Lord of Heaven’s Armies,
what joy for those who trust in you. Psalm 84;11 (NLT)

David saw God not only as his bright sunshine, but also his shade; his protection from whatever could or would do him harm. He saw dwelling in God’s courts as a constant flow of the grace of God and his glory. He had learned from experience that God would withhold nothing good from those who walked upright before Him. Needless to say, David found joy in God’s court The good news is that God’s court is still in session, still hearing cases, and still pardoning sinners.,
