The One No Eye Can See!

Yesterday we talked about Hagar, who, though she was a slave, heard the angel of the Lord who gave her revelation and insight as to her future and that of the child she was carrying. While women are often said to be more in tune with discerning spiritual things, revelation is not limited to women. Moses, considered to be one of the greatest men who ever lived got a revelation from God that kept him going in a wilderness for forty years:

^24-28 By faith, Moses, when grown, refused the privileges of the Egyptian royal house. He chose a hard life with God’s people rather than an opportunistic soft life of sin with the oppressors. He valued suffering in the Messiah’s camp far greater than Egyptian wealth because he was looking ahead, anticipating the payoff. By an act of faith, he turned his heel on Egypt, indifferent to the king’s blind rage. He had his eye on the One no eye can see, and kept right on going. Hebrews 11:24-27 morning (MSG)

We all have choices, but not all of our choices are as extreme as Moses faced when he grew into adulthood. Here Moses was the Prince of Egypt, with all the riches and power that position represented. All he had to do was look out the window and see the plight of his people; they were toiling day and night to fulfill the requests of the governmental authority that Moses could inherit, without reward.

For Moses, the choice was simple, he chose to side with God’s people, the slaves of Egypt, rather than choose to lord over them from the palace of Pharaoh.  He rejected all the wealth and prominence of Egypt to align himself with the suffering of  the people of God. And he figured that his people would recognize that he was called to do this.  As the story goes, they did not, and it forced Moses to flee to the back side of a mountain for forty years! How did he endure this downgrade in his status, "He had his eye on the One no eye can see, and kept right on going"!

This One, no eye can see reveals Himself to those He calls: to mother a son, like Hagar. He reveals Himself to One who is called to lead a great nation of people, like Moses. He wants to reveal Himself to all those who are looking for Him. He opens our eyes, He fills our heart with courage, He comforts us when it seems all hope seems lost.  He is the God Who Sees Me! He will allow us also to see Him!
