And Yet Another…

I cannot find the particular version of Genesis 37:9 that grabbed my heart and won’t let it go. It speaks. the words of Joseph telling his brothers that he had another dream, it goes like this:

"I dreamed a dream more… "

The closest I could come to it was in the New Heart English Bible:

"He dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his father and to his brothers, and said, "Look, I have dreamed yet another dream: and look, the sun and the moon and eleven stars bowed down to me."

I like the "dreamed a dream more" because we think of God as Jehovah Jireh, the God of ‘more than enough‘. It is good to think that when He gives a dream, it’s not just one dream, we have ‘a dream more’.

God does  not stop speaking to us with one conversation, and we shouldn’t stop speaking to Him with one conversation. Just as He gives us more… so too should we give Him more… more of our heart, more of our mind, more of our strength, more of our life… We should not only capitalize on the blessings He has bestowed upon us, but we should also cultivate an open heart to receive all of the blessings He wants to give us, even if they come in ‘raindrops’ as Laura Story sings.

Each and every day that the breath of God stirs us in the morning is an opportunity to revel in His exceedingly great and precious promises. The scripture says "He daily loads us with benefits"(Psalm. 68:19).  If you have ever had a limited use of some part of your body due to injury or some other quirk, and you. regain that use – ah-h-h – how you treasure it! You may start off remarking that you can do things that you couldn’t do before, but then all of a sudden it hits you – I didn’t do anything to make this possible, surely this is the gift of God!

No doubt Joseph had mixed feelings when he. came to his brothers with his dreams. They had treated him badly, because their father had favored Joseph. No doubt there was a bit of immature pride in Joseph feeling privileged to have been visited by God with a dream and then a ‘dream more’. Many Bible commentators. have spoke of this. However, I would like to think that it wasn’t only childish pride that prompted Joseph to go to his brothers; I’d like to believe that Joseph marveled at the gift of God coming to Him, encouraging him, giving him a future and a hope! I’d like to believe that Joseph was so excited that he couldn’t contain himself.

While I don’t recommend going to those who hate you and proclaiming. before them the prophetic dream God has given you. I do say, in our own quiet times, in our own time of sitting before God that we say "thank-you"! That we give all the honor the glory, and the praise to Him who keeps doing great things for us. What Father. doesn’t want his children to recognize that he is providing for them, creating opportunities for their life to be enriched, carving out a prosperous future for them to walk into. Our Abba Father is doing just that with one thing, and yet another…
