The Words of Our Mouth…
If you have enough time, you begin to see things that previously were hid to you. Over the past few weeks I have been very conscious of the words that we as a people speak. I am not talking about the social order of the day, I am talking about the believer. We, who have been born of the Spirit of God and have the indwelling Holy Spirit should never have the same conversation as those who don’t know God in the pardon of their sins. Unfortunately, when it comes to certain topics, there does not seem to be a difference. As words I have heard come back to me, I understand what is happening. As we curse our leaders, and our nation, we are cursing the very land that we live in. How can bitter and sweet come out of the same foundation asked the Apostle James. How can we speak death, and expect life to come forth! Every time we speak words of accusation against our brother, be they friend or foe, we are setting ourselves up for those kinds of accusations to come right back to us, and ours.
Scripture admonishes us that the words that we speak, have a tendency to speak to not only our future but that of others:
Do you want to live a long, good life, enjoying the beauty that fills each day? Then never speak a lie or allow wicked words to come from your mouth. Psalm 34:12-13 (TPT)
And never let ugly or hateful words come from your mouth, but instead let your words become beautiful gifts that encourage others; do this by speaking words of grace to help them. Ephesians 4;29 (TPT)
In recent weeks I have been thinking about one particular scripture:
18 I am convinced that any suffering we endure is less than nothing compared to the magnitude of glory that is about to be unveiled within us.19 The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters! 20 For against its will the universe itself has had to endure the empty futility resulting from the consequences of human sin. But now, with eager expectation, 21 all creation longs for freedom from its slavery to decay and to experience with us the wonderful freedom coming to God’s children. 22 To this day we are aware of the universal agony and groaning of creation, as if it were in the contractions of labor for childbirth. 23 And it’s not just creation. We who have already experienced the firstfruits of the Spirit also inwardly groan as we passionately long to experience our full status as God’s sons and daughters—including our physical bodies being transformed. 24 For this is the hope of our salvation. Romans 8:18-24 (TPT)
Verse 20 rings out to me, "the universe itself has had to endure the empty futility resulting from the consequences of human sin". People are not the only ones wandering around in confusion, so also is creation itself. Sin has not only ravaged the hearts of men, it has ravaged the earth. It is no wonder that strange diseases are manifesting themselves. How can we reverse the curse? There is only one way, there is only One who can, He yet speaks:
I am your only God, the living God. Wasn’t I the one who broke the strongholds over you and raised you up out of bondage? Open your mouth with a mighty decree; I will fulfill it now, you‘ll see! The words that you speak, so shall it be! Psalm 81:10 (TPT)
