Every Road Does Not Show The Destination!

When you start off a journey, it is usual to map out the road or roads that you have to take to reach your destination. Sometimes we’re fortunate to find a travel route that has a straight line. Anxious to begin our journey we venture ahead. As we travel we keep looking ahead to find our destination, surely we must be coming close. What happens however, is that it seems as if the road ahead is endless, with no destination in sight. Of course, what the map may not have shown is that even though the road was a straight line on the map, it did not take into consideration the elevation and dips of the hills and valleys on that road. Rarely do you find a straight line that does not have hidden curves.

AS our nation continues this road to recovery from this deadly covoid-19 attack, there are those looking to see the end to this thing. What makes sense is that social distancing and other measures should have afforded us so many miles that surely we are reaching our destination. Yet, we didn’t consider the many variables (the hills and valleys) that are on this road to recovery.

Yet, I hear the Lord say to us, even as He said to Jehoshaphat so many hundreds of years ago:

He said, "Listen carefully, all [you people of] Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat. The Lord says this to you: ‘Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 2 Chronicles 20:14 (AMP)

Yes, Jahaziel was talking about the invading sons of Ammon and Moab that were fast approaching, but Jehoshaphat had prayed to the Lord and the Lord heard him. We are facing a fast invading enemy that we can’t see with the naked eye, it appears to be surrounding us, yet, the promise still stands. If we refuse to be afraid or dismayed, this recognizably powerful disease is still not our battle to fight, it is God’s. We are to stand still. Stand still though it appears to be endless. It will not be endless. God is going to defeat this enemy and we shall see the salvation of the Lord.

I don’t know whether you need this bit of encouragement today, but I did. As the words of this ancient story came up in my spirit today, they lifted me to remember, there is nothing impossible unto God. When we set our face like flint to believe Him, and determine to follow the pathway He has set for us, then come mountains high, or valleys low, we know the captain of our soul will guide us safely to our destination.

And just in case it didn’t seem clear what God was saying, this verse came to mind:

A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them. Proverbs 16:9 (AMP)

O.K. Lord, I get it – right here, right now, with You. You take the lead, I’ll follow.
