We Must Do This For an Effective Re-open!
This week various states have begun to re-open various segments of their society from the quarantine that shut them down. Much debate is taking place and many opinions question whatever decision is made by whoever. The best we can do is pray for our leaders that they receive the wisdom of God, for most governmental decisions are outside of our reach. The next best thing we can do is to take our petition to a higher authority. There is one who governs over the affairs of men. In fact the scripture tells us that "the heart of the king is in the Lord’s hands and as the rivers of water, He turns it whithersoever He will" (Proverbs 21:21 (KJV)
We are not powerless as the people of God. In fact if we believe our Bible it lets us know that:
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV)
The power that comes from God has been given to Jesus and if we are under His authority He grants us whatever we need to get the assignment done. We are to "go ye" and "teach" all people, everywhere. With this as an assignment, don’t you think open doors will manifest and power to see change will come?
Jesus’ disciples knew that they need to know how to pray. They witnessed Jesus praying at all times in all situations. They knew that much or His strength came as a result of conversing with the Father. This is how we gain strength as well. Our nation needs strength. It is only as strong as the collective strength of its’ citizens. We know that there are many who do not understand the times we live in. Their ignorance and lack of adherence to what is good should not hinder us from praying for God to have mercy collectively on the nation. That is one of the major purposes of the National Day of Prayer. For those who can hear and understand to go into repentance for the sins of this nation and to beseech the God of all grace to have mercy upon us all.
This year’s theme is to "Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth" – Habakkuk 2:14. How fitting. Little did the designers know when choosing the theme that a deadly virus would literally cover across the earth. God knew however, and as the people of God we need to cover the earth in prayer for the glory of God to be greater than any deadly virus and bring healing to both body and soul. Each day this week we will offer a prayer for our nation and the world. Today’s prayer comes from our Lord Himself who taught us how to pray:
9 Pray like this:
‘Our Father, dwelling in the heavenly realms,
may the glory of your name
be the center on which our lives turn.
10 Manifest your kingdom realm,
and cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth,
just as it is fulfilled in heaven.
11 We acknowledge you as our Provider
of all we need each day.
12 Forgive us the wrongs we have done as we ourselves
release forgiveness to those who have wronged us.
13 Rescue us every time we face tribulation[
and set us free from evil.
For you are the King who rules
with power and glory forever. Amen.’
14 "And when you pray, make sure you forgive the faults of others so that your Father in heaven will also forgive you. 15 But if you withhold forgiveness from others, your Father withholds forgiveness from you." Matthew 5:9-14 (TPT)
