What Road Are You Traveling?
The question is asked, "is there not a cause"? Millions are searching for answers to that question. However, there will be few that will be able to narrow it down to, "what is the cause"? Not because it is impossible, but because "the cause" for the multitude changes every day. Trying to find your place in the world is not an easy task, particularly today. There appears to be so many opportunities, so many schools of thought, so many open doors. Yet, upon closer examination, most of the roads are headed in one direction. In the final analysis popular opinion shuffles everyone pretty much in the same direction:
13 "Come to God through the narrow gate, because the wide gate and broad path is the way that leads to destruction—nearly everyone chooses that crowded road!14 The narrow gate and the difficult way leads to eternal life—so few even find it!" Matthew 7:13-14 (TPT)
Ask Ordinary, the central figure in Bruce Wilkinson’s, The Dream Giver. He sets out from the Land of Familiar to go find his big dream. The more he travels, the greater the obstacles. The greater the obstacles, the fewer the travelers. Life is like that. There are few that want to go the extra mile and even fewer that want to go the faith mile. Yet, that is the road that leads to life, and life more abundantly.
I contend that it is easy to get into a place of complacency. You work hard, you’re able to achieve a certain place of comfort; why move from a comfortable place, to an unfamiliar place? It took so much effort to get to this place and you enjoy it. Why bother going further? The answer is simple, because there is MORE. As long as we have breath in our body, that little dream keeps growing bigger. Though the road becomes more difficult, the God within us grows also. We find we are able to take on challenges that would have caused our heart to faint had we known of them in the beginning of our journey. And more than satisfaction, we find joy. The joy that comes with OVERCOMING. And even more than joy, we have PEACE. Peace that surpasses all man’s understanding.
Yes, the road to life is not for the faint hearted. Yet, a heart filled with God does not faint, it beats LIFE!
