Unshakeable Faith!
If there is one thing we need in this season, it is faith. Not just a cursory faith, but a deep, abiding faith that is deeply rooted in our soul:
1 I stand silently to listen for the one I love,
waiting as long as it takes for the Lord to rescue me.
For God alone has become my Savior.
2 He alone is my safe place;
his wrap-around presence always protects me.
For he is my champion defender;
there’s no risk of failure with God.
So why would I let worry paralyze me,
even when troubles multiply around me? Psalm 62: 1-2 (TPT)
Although it is not known just how long David was on the run from King Saul, we do know he spent many lonely, frightening days trying to escape his clutches. There was no form of entertainment to take his mind off of his troubles, other than the many songs that God gave him. Songs in which he poured out his soul unto God letting God know not only his heartfelt cry, but also his hope that God would redeem him. In the above Psalm we see Him reminding himself of the One he was looking to as his protector. His words speak of the faithfulness of God. Thus, no matter what was going around him, this was the message that was within him.
While we in this nation have for the most part not had to run for our lives to seek shelter from an enemy, we have experienced wars none the less. Those wars rage within us. The enemy of our soul battles with us every day to deny the goodness of God, or deny His faithfulness. Like David we have to make a decision that we will "stand to listen to the One we love". We have to determine that He is our"champion defender" – more than able to help us through any challenge. It is not our portion as believers to be filled with anxiety, frustration and fear. We must remember the words that speak to this condition:
6 Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, 7 then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. Philippians 4:6-7 (TPT)
