Everybody Ought to Know!

How is your conversation these days? Are you only talking about what’s going on in this Age of Covid? Are you beset with the terrible violence that is ravaging our cities? How about changing the conversation? Let’s talk about something that is life-giving. What better conversation can we have than to talk about the life-changing, soul-cleansing, glory that comes with salvation:

Let me be clear, the Anointed One has set us free—not partially, but completely and wonderfully free! We must always cherish this truth and stubbornly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past. Galatians 6:1 (TPT)

The Good News of the Gospel is that Jesus Christ came to set us free – as the above scripture notes He did not do a half-job. We are not partially free – we are free indeed! The problem ofttimes with a gift however is that in order to possess the gift you have to receive it. You cannot say so- and -so gave you a gift but you are not enjoying it, because you have not received it. You never fully appreciate something until it is in your possession.

Confessing that Jesus is the Son of God, who died for your sins, and offers to you eternal life is one step toward the salvation process. Believing is important. However, the devil believes and trembles. It is not enough just to believe that He is the Anointed One. No, it is important to receive:

But those who embraced him and took hold of his name were given authority to become the children of God! John 1:12 (TPT)

When we "embrace" this Savior and take Him into our heart, allow full adoption to take place and we receive His Name – then we become the children of God! And like any child, we began to take on the attributes of the Father and our Kin. We begin to walk like Him, to talk like Him, to think like Him. We have a new attitude. We even have. new conversation.

Lest you have forgotten that glorious day, maybe you remember this familiar gospel song:

  1. What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought
    Since Jesus came into my heart;
    I have light in my soul for which long I have sought,
    Since Jesus came into my heart.
    • Refrain: Rufus M
      Since Jesus came into my heart,
      Since Jesus came into my heart;
      Floods of joy o’er my soul like the sea billows roll,
      Since Jesus came into my heart.
  2. I have ceased from my wand’ring and going astray,
    Since Jesus came into my heart;
    And my sins which were many are all washed away,
    Since Jesus came into my heart.
  3. I’m possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure,
    Since Jesus came into my heart;
    And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure,
    Since Jesus came into my heart.. Written by: Rufufs McDaniel

Let’s talk it, let’s sing it, let’s tell it, for "everybody ought to know"!.
