Have You Ever Been Called Poetry Before?
Most of us while growing up got called some names that we were not happy with. If we went home to tell our parents, they would tell us to tell them, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me".This was supposed to make it alright when cutting, cruel words were said. It usually didn’t.
Over the years we grow and learn how to take the unkind or thoughtless words, but we never get to the place where we don’t cherish kind and loving words. Did you know that God had this to say about you:
We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it! Ephesians 2:10 (TPT)
I bet you’ve never been referred to as "poetry". Yet the beautiful re-creation God has made of your life can best be described as a beautiful sonnet, a rhythmic couplet. We have been so joined to Jesus that we take on His likeness and so we too begin to look a little like the rose of Sharon, the Lilly of the valley, the bright and morning star. We begin to walk in cadence with His step, our heart beating to the sound of the universe.
The Apostle Paul said:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.Acts 17::28 (KJV)
We learned in church a familiar hymn, I Come to the Garden Alone, by Austin Myles"
...2 He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
[Refrain]
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
Baptist Hymnal, 1991
Yes, we enjoy the beauty, the sound, the harmony. our God set in motion, and as a bonus we get called poetry too!
