There Will Be a Warning Before Danger!
We are in the Age of Covid and countless numbers of people are walking in fear. Multitudes others are concerned as to whether they should return to work, send their kids to school, go to church. Questions abound as to how to live in the Age of Covid.
I confess I don’t have any answers. I am still in court with me as to what my children and grandchildren should do. My faith says something however, that I have used to guide me. Whenever I feel at a crossroads, or problems get insurmountable and fear tries to overtake me, I depend on a barometer that resides within my heart. It is regulated by He, the Holy Ghost. I confess the older I get, the more I wonder about what to do. There are so many variables associated with the decisions we have to make, that it is no wonder that it’s really hard to make a concrete decision, particularly when it might be life or death!
Yet, as I stated above, for the born again believer we have a barometer inside that for the most part is silent, giving us free rein over the decisions of our life. Every now and then, you may feel a little stirring, it stirs enough to get your attention. If you ask God what this means, it just might lead you to a blessing, or sometimes even warn you before you go into danger:
13 After they had gone, Joseph had another dream. An angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, "Get up now and flee to Egypt. Take Mary and the little child and stay there until I tell you to leave, for Herod intends to search for the child to kill him."
14 So that very night he got up and took Jesus and his mother and made their escape to Egypt 15 and remained there until Herod died. All of this fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through his prophet:
I summon my Son out of Egypt.Matthew 2:13-14 (TPT)
Joseph was a simple man who got caught up in the most cataclysmic event ever to hit the earth. He was faced with a hard decision, when his bride to be came to him and told him she was pregnant, and of all things, pregnant by the Holy Ghost! That was a lot to take in, and Joseph feeling like she was trying to play him, thought about what he knew about Mary and decided he would not make this a confrontational issue, rather he would put her away quietly. However, before he put his decision into action, he had a dream that told him exactly what to do – to take Mary as his wife and take on all that meant ( there was surely going to gossip for one).
In the above passage from Matthew 2 we see that once again Joseph is given direction in a dream. Joseph is told to take his new bride and the baby who was born, to Egypt because there was going to be a terrible search for their child with the intent to kill him. Joseph, having experiences with God now speaking to him in his dream, did just that. He took his young family to Egypt and stayed there until the one seeking the child’s life was himself dead. Interestingly, God had spoken that this would happen through the prophet Hosea in chapter 11:1 hundreds of years before.
Imagine that! God really does know the end from the beginning. We can trust His leading. We can pray for Him to lead us, to guide us, and to keep us from danger. It pays to get to know this Holy Spirit and how He moves the barometer in our heart.
