Could It Be!
While Election 2020 is not over, the media has declared a certain winner! Could it be however, that there was no real winner? Or, could it be that there is opportunity for everyone to win? As we look at the polarization that exists in this nation, and even the results as they stand right now, it appears that almost 50 percent of the nation is either shouting victory or cringing in defeat. The question is then, is there any real winner? A house divided against itself cannot stand. Unless there is an olive branch extended on both sides, we will never achieve peace within our nation – backbiting, or even mean-spirited boasting cannot continue if we are going to heal as a nation.
Just like there are those who look at a half glass either half-full, or half-empty – there is another way we can look at this election. We can see it as foundation being laid where all can win:
Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth. Ephesians 1:7 (MSG)
If we can grab ahold of this verse, and take God at HIs Word we find that no matter who the president is, we hold the victor’s crown! We are not just living basing our freedom on our geographical boundaries, we have transcended boundary and party lines and have been caught up into a realm that will not change course in four years! We not only have a freedom that is invaluable, we have everything we could possibly want, and not just in this world, in the world to come.
Tuesday, November 4th, 2020 millions of Americans made a choice for president of the United States of America. Today I make a renewed choice – I choose Jesus – the author and the finisher of my faith. I will uphold the laws of the land, I will give respect to those in authority, but I will honor the King – the King of all Kings – who granted me a pardon in spite of my sins- who prepared a table before me, where I can dine from the treasures of this life, who loves me with an everlasting love, who most of all – knows my name , knows everything about me, is concerned about my faintest cry- and He has counted me in His beloved.
Amen and Amen,
Maria
