Growing!

A little seed can grow into a magnificent tree  – like the sequoia which can grow from 164 to 279 feet tall. Think of the multiplication factor with this tree. Talk about cells dividing! Well that little tree seed is nothing compared to what we can do when we plant a seed of the word of God. With a simple plan of doubling two Christians a year, by the 33rd year there could be 8.5 billions Christians! The early apostles understood this concept for by the seventeenth chapter of Acts it was said that the twelve were those who "turned the world upside down".

God told the senior citizen Abraham:

And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.Genesis 13:16 (KJV)

And if that wasn’t big enough for him, he later told him this;

And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. Genesis 15:5 (KJV)

Certainly those words have become a reality for the Israelites.

When you think of what a human seed can do, think also of what a seed of hope can do:

17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred.Romans 4:17-19 (KJV)

Before the seed could be planted for birth, it had to first be planted in Abraham’s heart. He had to war against wavering hope, to stand committed to the hope that God placed in him. And he did just that. We have to do that too. While our role may not be as momentous as that of Abraham beginning a whole new nation; what God gives us to do is every Gbit as important to the upbuilding of His Kingdom and He wants us to "hope’ our way through.

This day let hope arise in you; let it grow as tall as it needs to grow that you will be firmly planted in the will of God, for the upbuilding of the Kingdom of God and the joy of living a life growing in trees of righteousness for the Lord!
