This Is NOT a Fairy Tale!

We are down to the wire. Just a couple more days and the world itself takes note of the celebration of the Christ Child! Whether they adhere to a belief in His divinity or not, they still acknowledge the day with some kind of celebration! Interesting, that even in this world that wants to reject God in our schools, in our government, in our public and private institutions that they still want the day off – to celebrate Christmas!

The world does not have to believe that Jesus, the Son of God, born a baby, became a man who lived a sinless life; performed miracles, wonders and signs, and then died a cruel death on a cross on Calvary. They do not have to believe it to make it so – for this is no fairy tale. Even in biblical days, after Jesus walked the earth among them, after his death with no imminent return, people began to go about business as usual. The Apostle Peter, among others, warned them against this:

For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes ¹⁷ when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, "This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. 2 Peter 1:16-17 (NLT)  

Peter spoke from his own experience – an experience that was life changing for him. What I want to reference from this is not Peter’s experience, but the words  that came from heaven:"This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy". We are in the last days of advent, with our focus on "joy". What brings you joy? Is it an expectation that you will get what you have desired, under the tree? Is it the Zoom call you hope to share with your family and loved ones this strange year? Is it that you have escaped the deadly tentacles of the coronavirus? What brings you joy?

For God the Father, it was His Son – Jesus! It was a Son who always did and said what pleased Him! It was a Son who had such love and compassion for mankind that when there was no else to pay the ransom for the sins of man, He willingly said, "here am I, send me". This is NOT a fairy tale! One day you will be judged by whether you believe it to be true, and accept the terms of the covenant; or whether you felt it to be just another fable – and rejected the terms.

It also gets down to this, what about joy? Do you want joy in your life? Maybe you have a son or daughter who gives you pleasure, but do they give you joy? Joy can only truly be present when Jesus resides in our heart. As you grow in the grace of God you begin to understand what it is really important, what will endure the test of time. As the Apostle John wrote:

I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth. 3John 1:4 (NLT)

Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14; 6 (NLT)

This is NOT a  Fairy Tale!
