Finish, Well!
Tomorrow will mark the end of the year 2020! It will fade into the echoes of time, and a brand new year will come forth! For most of us it will not feel as if a significant change has taken place. We will look out the window and see the same inclement weather conditions; we will face the same bills, go to the same job, hear the same complaints form those who are so willing to share.
Yet, the transition from one year to the next is significant nonetheless. Whatever the weather, the bills, or the job – we have a fresh opportunity to partner with the God time itself, in seeing something brand new take place in the earth realm. Before we venture into it however, we need to finish well this 2020:
You keep every promise you’ve ever made to me!
Since your love for me is constant and endless,
I ask you, Lord, to finish every good thing that you’ve begun in me! Psalm 138;8 (TPT)
If you are reading this, then you are among the blessed who entered into 2020 twelve months ago! So many have fallen victim either to the corona virus or some other affliction, accident or injury. They paid their last dues to the earth and went on to their reward. We who are here have a distinct advantage in as much that we yet have opportunity to see that we finish to completion, "every good thing" that (God) began in us. And we can start by finishing well this year. Are there people you need to get right with? Are there things you can easily finish in the next day or so, that you are leaving hanging? Have you (like me) piles of things that need to be filed and put in place? Have you that email or letter that needs to be written; got a phone call you’ve been saying you were going to make?
Most of all, is there something that you need to talk to the Lord about? Have you got some things in your heart that are unsettled? Things that only by being honest with God and laying it out before Him, will you have real peace.
Yes, there are things we can do that will open up the floodgates of God’s promises to us. The Psalmist has declared that God’s love is "constant and endless" – yet when we back away from Him, we fail to let that love bring us the good things that God’s love wants to shower down upon us – even in the Age of Covid!
