What Say Ye, Lord?
In the middle of a midwestern winter, when the sun breaks forth, I begin to wonder what God wants to share with me this day. I love the sunshine! I love light! I see clearer – I hear better, I feel better! I begin to listen for God’s message, I’m not the only one who feels that way;
The God of gods, the mighty Lord himself, has spoken!
He shouts out over all the people of the earth
in every brilliant sunrise and every beautiful sunset,
saying, "Listen to me!" Psalm 50:1 (TPT)
The psalmist also looked for God to speak when the sun rose in its’ brilliance! How powerful a light that can eradicate darkness. How loving a God who wants to speak to HIs people and puts a blazing ball of fire in the sky to get their attention. Can we hear what He has to say to us today? If we hear, will we respond?
What an amazing privilege it is to have the God of all creation want to share His secrets for the day with those He created. What an inspiration to feel as if He can trust us with HIs plans. What an adventure we get to share when He commissions us to be that "one" who will do His bidding! And this is what our daily walk is intended to be like. To rise, like the sun, after an evening of rest to join in the adventure of life! To share the blessings of love. To spread peace to a troubled world.
Our world is in trouble today. There are many sitting on the edge of their seat in fear – fear of an invisible disease, fear of political unrest, fear of economic instability. Yet we have been given a message from the Lord that is always on time:
Quiet your heart in his presence and pray;
keep hope alive as you long for God to come through for you.
And don’t think for a moment that the wicked in their prosperity
are better off than you.
8 Stay away from anger and revenge.
Keep envy far from you, for it only leads you into lies.
9 For one day the wicked will be destroyed,
but those who trust in the Lord
will live safe and sound with blessings overflowing Psalm 37: 7-9 (TPT)
Which message would you like to pass on today – a synopsis of the nine o’clock news or this tried and true message from our Father?
