What Do You See?
One of my favorite things is flowers. I love to get flowers, whether someone gives them to me, or I purchase them myself. I don’t like artificial flowers, I like the real thing and the most beautiful arrangements. I ran across a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that says, "the earth laughs in flowers". I like that, because I feel that way too. Flowers bring me to a happy place.
One passage of scripture that talks about flowers got me to thinking today:
Can you not discern this new day of destiny
breaking forth around you?
The early signs of my purposes and plans
are bursting forth.
The budding vines of new life
are now blooming everywhere.
The fragrance of their flowers whispers,
"There is change in the air."
Arise, my love, my beautiful companion,
and run with me to the higher place.
For now is the time to arise and come away with me. Solomon 2:132 (TPT)
While this precious passage describe s a lover calling to his intended, I can so feel that the Lord is saying this to each of us today. Yes, I know it’s still January and if I look outside I see a gloomy gray day, only lightened a little by the snow on the ground. Yet, in my mind’s eye I see "the early signs of God’s purposes and plans bursting forth." I can even smell the fragrance of a new day – that in fact ‘there is change in the air". I want to go with Him, away from the politics of this day, away from the diseases, away from the turmoil of our cities. Not to escape, but to see beyond. For in my view there is a beyond – there is a new day on the horizon. It’s just beyond the clouds. If you go up a little higher you can see it. If you stretch your hands up to heaven, you might even feel it.
Take heart, our God said that "there will be seedtime and harvest, until He comes again". Don’t faint now, the best is yet to come. As you look out of your window and see the earth covered with snow, know that underneath that snow, bulbs are being watered and in due season, they will rise and laugh again!
