Jesus’ Greatest Message He Gave to Women!
On this last day of Women’s History Month I want to encourage all women everywhere that we serve a Savior who not only approves of the role women play in the church, He helped orchestrate it!
At the crucifixion, the only disciple present that is recorded is John. While there may have been others of the 12 there, they weren’t mentioned. However we do notice one thing:
55 There were also many women there looking on from a distance, who had accompanied Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him. 56 Among them was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and [Salome] the mother of Zebedee’s sons [James and John]. Matthew 27:55 (AMP)
At the cross, at the tomb on that fateful Friday – the women were present. On the day after the Sabbath, women went early to the tomb to prepare Jesus’ body for burial. When they arrived, they found that the body was not there. After quizzing those around, trying to find where they had laid the body, the angel of the Lord told them that He had risen just like He said He would.
As they were leaving to tell Jesus’ disciples they were stopped by Jesus Himself:
8 So the women left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell [the good news to] the disciples. 9 And as they went, suddenly, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” And they went to Him and took hold of His feet [in homage] and worshiped Him [as the Messiah]. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell My brothers to leave for Galilee, and there they will see Me[just as I promised].” Matthew 28:8-10 (AMP)
We see in this short encounter that Jesus “sent” the women to tell His brothers that He had risen and to meet Him in Galilee. If ever there was proof concerning the value that Jesus placed on women, it is here in this passage. Jesus entrusted them with the best news that the world could receive, death had no victory – Jesus was alive!
It is just as true today. Jesus is beckoning women everywhere to go and tell others that He is alive, He has risen just as He said, and He ever lives to make intercession for us (Romans 8:34)! For in Christ:
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male norfemale: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28 (KJV)
Jesus doesn’t change our gender, He uses our gender, our ethnicity, our race, our status – we are all one in Christ Jesus!
