Do You Know Why It’s a Good Friday?
How can this Friday be good, you may ask. After all didn’t Jesus suffer, bleed, and die on a rugged cross? It certainly wasn’t good for Him! Yet, I’m sure Jesus rejoiced after the pain because He accomphlised something no one else could do:
for we all have sinned and are in need of the glory of God. 24 Yet through his powerful declaration of acquittal, God freely gives away his righteousness. His gif of love and favor now cascades over us, all because Jesus, the Anointed One, has liberated us from the guilt, punishment, and power of sin! Romans 3:23-25 (TPT)
Jesus came as the sacrificial lamb, fulfilling the penalty that the sins of mankind had committed against a holy God. The love of God “cascades over us” in waves of right standing; something so undeserved, yet freely given by our Lord Jesus Christ.
So while it was a very dark and painful day for Jesus that Friday of Passover Week so long ago, it became a very Good Friday for all those who accept the free gift of redemption from their sins given because of that day. Not only a day of liberation from the chains of death, but a triumphal entry into life and that more abundantly!
My old identity has been co-crucified with Christ and no longer lives. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, dispensing his life into mine! Galatians 2:2- (TPT)
Yes, It was. very Good Friday indeed!
Maria
Amen! Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice!
