Comfort to My Soul!

Divisive words and actions in this nation have caused me to have more than one restless night. I have lived long enough to see some of the worst kinds of pain inflicted on mankind and it hurts to see it. Observing the increasing divide in this nation has caused me to wonder if we will see such atrocities become commonplace in this nation.

Then I read the Psalms and in them I find comfort:

The Lord looks down from heaven
and sees the whole human race.
14 From his throne he observes
all who live on the earth.
15 He made their hearts,
so he understands everything they do.
16 The best-equipped army cannot save a king,
nor is great strength enough to save a warrior.
17 Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory—
for all its strength, it cannot save you.

1But the Lord watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his unfailing love. Psalm 33:13-18 (NLT
)

When I realize that if I get upset over the things going on in this world, what is God feeling? We, His humanity are creating havoc in His world! It gives me assurance to know that it does not matter how strong a military is, or how well equipped the war chest is; God is greater!

I read further and see these words:

1He rescues them from death
and keeps them alive in times of famine. Psalm 33:19 (NLT)

Covid – your reign will not be forever! Cancer, diabetes, heart attacks- one day you will all bow completely to the throne of our God! Those who continue to hold to and promote perverse ideas will see them crushed under the mighty hand of God! While we talk about a “woke” culture rising, there is a God who neither slumbers nor sleeps – and it is Him that I put my trust:

20 We put our hope in the Lord.
He is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22 Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord,
for our hope is in you alone. Psalm 33:20-22 (NLT)
