Oh, That Day IS Coming!

Look around you and all you can see with the naked eye is devastation, destruction, negativity, hopelessness. Yet, there is coming a day when all of this will cease:

And they in turn will answer,
    ‘Jezreel’—‘God plants!’
23 At that time I will plant a crop of Israelites
    and raise them for myself.
I will show love
    to those I called ‘Not loved.’
And to those I called ‘Not my people,’
    I will say, ‘Now you are my people.’
And they will reply, ‘You are our God!’” Hosea 2:22-23 (NLT)

It is not difficult to look at the problems that exist in our world; they are not only in abundance, they appear to be escalating. What is harder to see is what Elisha told the young prophet when he felt that Israel was surrounded:

16 “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” 17 Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.2 Kings 6:16-17 (NLT)

I was on the plane last week, and when it got a little bumpy I envisioned the multitude of angels that were surrounding my journey. I could visualize them lifting the plane off of the bumpy clouds and making the flight smoother. All the while I heard this melody ringing in my heart:

There is no doubt the battle is raging. There is no doubt the thunders are roaring. What is most true however is that though we may be surrounded, if we will just allow God to open our eyes, we will see that we are surrounded by HIM!
