Free As a Bird…
It has been over a week since I posted. So much has happened, that it seems like it’s been forever. One of the main things that prevented me from posting was not having internet service for a week! One of the handicaps in modern living is the we depend upon outside providers to keep us connected to the outside world. Needless to say, I have not been happy with the slow movement of my provider!
When these things occur, it puts into perspective the words of our Lord:
34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:34 (NLT)
Most of us don’t have time for worrying about tomorrow – there is enough going on TODAY!
Yet, even with the troubles of today, we cannot allow worry to take up residence in our heart. As tempting as it is to fret over annoyances, worry is a squatter. It does not pay rent and provides no form of compensation in our lives. It needs to be kicked to the curb – better yet, trampled under our feet!
Worry is an imposter that parades around like a concerned friend. It adds nothing, but takes away our peace. When we take the time and consider all the illnesses that worry produces, we realize that it has no worthwhile benefit. Reading a little further down in the chapter we see:
26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Matthew 6:26 (NLT)
Looks like it’s settled – I want to be free as a bird!
Maria
Yes, free as a bird!❤️
Another great post, Dr. Maria. Worry is an imposter posturing as a dear friend. Thanks for unveiling the enemy.
Amen! We cannot worry about things/people and allow it to affect our health.
