What Kind of Day is Today?
We are living in an age where there are things going on every day that deserve great celebration; and conversely there are things occurring every day that are causing someone great grief. There doesn’t seem to be any time when we experience an even keel. All of our emotions are on a roller coaster. And sometimes sadly, we can’t get through a day of rejoicing when something tragic happens that same day. Scripture tells us:
Rejoice with those who rejoice [sharing others’ joy], and weep with those who weep [sharing others’ grief]. Romans 12:15 (AMP)
We are urged to join in the expression of joy or sorrow, not only because of our life events, but also along side with the life events of others.
God is concerned with our living in community. Together – sharing, caring, being “touched with the feeling of others’ infirmities”. When we share our good times and bad, it makes it so much easier to enjoy those good times and bear those difficult times. What a different world it would be if we would teach our children to experience what a true family is, and then teach them the joys of extended family.. What if that extended family grew into an appreciation for concern for community? And what if that concern for one’s fellow man was practiced in communities everywhere? What a different world this would be.
