It’s Graduation Time!

We are in the midst of celebrations for graduates of all ages! From pre-school to the top years you can go, graduates are receiving their awards. There is no doubt many have worked exceedingly hard and have accomplished much, yet there is real knowledge that extends beyond the walls of academia:

This is what the Lord says:
“Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom,
    or the powerful boast in their power,
    or the rich boast in their riches.
²⁴ But those who wish to boast
    should boast in this alone:
that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord
    who demonstrates unfailing love
    and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth,
and that I delight in these things.
    I, the Lord, have spoken! Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NLT)

Yes, the truly educated one is he or she that recognizes that there is no earthly wisdom that can compare to the knowledge of the Holy One. That a real education includes knowing Him who delights in bringing justice and righteousness to the earth. When all learning fails to bring the answer to a dilemma that caught you by surprise, or when medicine has failed to bring healing to a sick child; when every effort to get that job has not been good enough, and years upon years have gone by and still no mate is in the picture. When nations refuse to sit at the table and come to consensus, or when cultural mores have more influence on your children than you do – just remember, there is a God who has unfailing love for you, for your children, and for your nation – trust Him to bring the revelation, the healing, the peace, the household salvation.
