The Hound of Heaven!
Whether you know or not, the very God, Creator of the universe came after you like a hound dog chasing a rabbit. No, He didn’t shout you down, or tackle you like a quarterback, but in every way that He could, He came after you proclaiming a love that was unconditional. There was no announcement that He was near, yet with the force of a triple twined rope, He pulled at your heart strings, urging you to come home. Love like that we may expect from our mothers, yet even if they fail us:
[The Lord answered] “Can a woman forget her nursing child And have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. Isaiah 49:15 (AMP)
While we have certain expectations of our parents or other loved ones to put up with us, forgiving our mishaps and giving us grace when we fail them – we don’t look for outsiders to do the same. In fact, disappointment has so clouded the hearts of some of us that we don’t think anybody is worthy of our love, because we don’t feel love from anybody. Yet, even as Francis Thompson penned the words of “The Hound of Heaven”, there is One who:
“178 Is my gloom, after all, 179 Shade of His hand, outstretched caressingly? 180 ‘Ah, fondest, blindest, weakest, 181 I am He Whom thou seekest! ” excerpt from The Hound of Heaven, Francis Thompson
No matter how much we are a wretch undone, this God comes after us, searching, reaching, calling, seeking...Come and dine at the Master’s Table, Come and Dine – you don’t have to eat crumbs that fall from the table, you don’t have to dwell outside in the cold, He is here beckoning you;
Behold, I stand at the door [of the church] and continually knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him (restore him), and he with Me. Revelation 3:20 (AMP)

It comforts me to know how much He wants relationship with me.
Thank you, God, for STILL wanting me even after I’ve been disobedient.
