Have You Ever Had to Speak For God?

We are now living in what is being called a post-pandemic world As the philosophers try to reckon with it, there will no doubt be many questions asked – that science will never be able to answer. Why did so many lose their life to this deadly disease? Why did one in a household get the disease, but none the of the other members of that same household did? And after all the questions are asked, there will no doubt be the question, “Where was God?“

When mankind can’t come to a conclusion that fits their schematic, there is always the blame game, and the blame usually goes to God. How can a loving God stand by and see suffering and do nothing about it?

This is not a new question; in fact it is as old as time. Every now and then God answers the question:

¹⁴ God replied to Moses, “I am who i am. Say this to the people of Israel: I amhas sent me to you.” ¹⁵ God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.

    my name to remember for all generations. Exodus 3:14, 15 (NLT)

When Moses came across the burning bush He found that God was speaking to Him. God gave Moses an assignment to which Moses gave reasons why he could not do it. When Moses realized he was losing his argument, he asked God who was he to say sent him to Pharaoh in Egypt. The scripture above answers that question. And with that answer it was also clear that every plague that came upon Egypt came from the One who sent Moses. There was no question about who sent the plagues and who stopped the plagues. Neither was there a question as to why Goshen was free of those plagues – God made a distinction.

So far, there was no clear message with covid, as to its’ origin, or its’ ending. What we do know is that “the God of Abraham, the God of Issac, and the God of Jacob” is still God, and His name is to be honored throughout all generations.
