Just Keep Asking…Because He Said So!

One of the remarkable things about our children is their tenacity to keep asking. No matter how many times you turn them down, they come back another way and ask again. I watch my grandchildren who have upped the ante, they not only ask, they explain to their mother why they must have it! They will go through long speeches giving all the reasons they can come up with as to why their request is essential to their well being.

Don’t we do the same with God? When our prayers fall on seeming deaf ears, don’t we always come back – the next time giving a reason, possibly how it will give glory to God. I have often amazed myself with some of my reasoning!!! What I found out over and over is that God is not Amazon, He will not deliver the package the next day – and there are times when it seems as if the order is lost altogether!

Yet, we read in HIs Word:

1And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

1If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:13-15 (KJV)

If we look at the scripture we see that first He said to ask- check! Second He sys to ask in the Name of Jesus – check! Then the third is thrown in for good measure – “if you love me, keep my commandments”. Does this mean that all unanswered prayer is because we do not keep Hs commandments? I don’t think so. I think that 15th verse should be the 13th verse – which more than likely has something to do with this:

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment. Matthew 27:37-28 (KJV)

For when we love God with all of our heart, soul, and mind – everything we keep asking for pales in comparison to just having Him.

There are so many times at this time in my life when I browse through the store and say to myself, “I have everything that I need, I don’t need to buy anything”. That wasn’t always the case. There were far too many years with far too many shopping trips when I felt that I had to just buy “something”! Kind of reminds me of another scripture:

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 1 Timothy 6:6-7 (KJV)

With age comes maturity, our values are different. God, who sees the end from the beginning knows this, and for our benefit helps us when we pray, if we remain faithful in prayer – the glitter of yesterday’s sparkles diminishes in the reflection of the diamond we receive if we wait on HIm.

    I’m so grateful that He is a promise keeper;
    He will supply all of my NEEDS according to His riches in glory.
    Good word Mother!
