HAVE YOU SEEN HIM?

Have you been to the temple? Have you seen the flowing robe? Have you seen who the robe covers? Have you seen Him:

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw [in a vision] the Lord sitting on a throne, high and exalted, with the train of His royal robe filling the [most holy part of the] temple. Isaiah 6:1

Could it be that the Uzziah in your life is preventing you from seeing the Lord? That your awe of your Uzziah blinds you from the awesome One in the temple? Have your eyes been washed from the dust of the world, giving you the kind of clear vision that can embrace that One who is invisible to the naked eye?

I would not believe that I was missing something for so many years unless a transformation had taken place in me, causing my eyes to be open to a truth that I wanted to refute. It was not popular to believe in Jesus – the old adages in the Bible were taught taught to keep Black people subjugated to a subservient position. After all, I have been educated now and I realize those Sunday school fables were just that, fables. Whoever heard of the kinds of stories that are portrayed in the Bible? No reasonable person would believe them.

It’s funny isn’t it, what we believe when we haven’t seen Him? When deception prevents us from even seeking to ask the question, “God are you real?” We think we are running from bondage, rather we are running to it. We think we are free, without realizing that an unseen enemy is pulling the strings of our life.

As the chorus to the beautiful song, When Jesus Comes states:

One sat alone beside the highway begging,
His eyes were blind, the light he could not see.
He clutched his rags and shivered in the shadows
Then Jesus came and bade his darkness flee.

Chorus:

When Jesus comes, the tempter’s power is broken;
When Jesus comes, the tears are wiped away,
He takes the gloom and fills the life with glory,

Yes, when Jesus comes- the robe in all its’ splendor dims in comparison to the glory that fills the temple. The good news is even though Uzziah has been in your way, He still wants to fill the temple of your soul.
