This Week, It’s War!
This year the theme for the 2021 HeartLife Marriage Getaway is “Bulletproof”! The attendees will be there dressed for battle in their fatigues. We need more than battlewear however, it’s time to learn how to really fight:
3 We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. 4 We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. 5 We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NLT)
Anyone can swing some punches, they may land in the desired place and they may not. Even cowards can sneak up in the dark and shoot a gun. Unfortunately there are too many people doing both of these. However, even though we are humans, we as believers do not wage war like other humans do. Even as the above scripture declares, “we use God’s mighty weapons” to fight and we don’t go for the jugular, we go for their soul – that place where they accept lies and deceit, that place which is the seat of their reasoning ( or lack thereof). It is the soul of the man that we go after, for it is the soul that will perish outside of finding their place in God.
There are many strategies. Many begin in prayer and continue in prayer, a most powerful weapon. Some are called to preaching and it is the foolishness of preaching that they use to capture the attention of the unbeliever. Some approach the one who is always giving an argument in a way that utilizes apologetics. Whatever the strategy, the goal is the same – to let men and women, boys and girls know that they have a soul to save and a God to glorify1
Whether you come in at the front gate, or whether you knock at the back door, the Father is waiting:
Softly and Tenderly
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for me
See on the portals He’s waiting and watching
Watching for you and for me
Come home, come home
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, “O sinner come home”…
