A Tool in Our Arsenal!

I was reminded today of one of the tools we as believers have in our arsenal. Perhaps one of the biggest mistakes we make as believers is to forget that we are in war against an enemy that is relentless. Just because things are quiet for a day or two, don’t think he has retreated. No, that slimy devil is waiting in the shadows, waiting to pounce on every place you are vulnerable.

How can we defeat him? Well, just as you have different utensils to prepare your meals, and just as a doctor has different instruments to perform his surgeries; so too, we have different tools to advance in God’s kingdom:

12 So they went out and preached that men should repent [that is, think differently, recognize sin, turn away from it, and live changed lives]. 13 And they were casting out many demons and were anointing with oil many who were sick, and healing them. Mark 6:12-13 (AMP)

There was no doubt the disciples were anointed to do the work that Jesus called them to do. Yet as they went out preaching the message of repentance, they had to pause over some they ministered to. Some they had to cast out demons, some, who were sick, needed to be anointed with oil; some needed the laying on of hands, and so forth. Each city had individuals who had different needs, each need had a tool that was used to minister just what that individual needed.

It is no different today. We still need to employ the tools in our arsenal – we still need to pray the prayer of faith; lay hands on the sick so they will recover; cast out demons so people can be set free; speak the word of life over those who are empty, encourage everyone with the promises in the Word of God.

No good plumber, or doctor, or contractor, or even a good jack-of-all-trades, leaves home without their tool box. Thank God even we laymen can utilize the tools in the arsenal of our faith.
