Just Behind the Door!
We are in the season when everything seems to be on steroids. There is much to do and little time to do it. Our hearts are stretched to want to show love to everyone, yet showing that love seems to involve money we don’t have. It is not unusual to get weary. To feel as if the most effective recourse of action would be to go to bed and wake up after New Year’s!
Jesus knew we would have days like this and He offered these words:
Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis.29 Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. 30 For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.” Matthew 11:28-30 (TPT)
Can you say a-h-h-h? The offer of being able to set your burden down in the midst of an oasis, after traveling through a dry desert. Jesus offers this, “if” we are willing to join our life with His. Is that such a hard thing that you would pass up the opportunity to have a well of water springing up unto everlasting life? Of course, you have to use your imagination – for He is not like those we usually depend upon. He is far more gentle than our kindest friend. He is more humble than anyone we know. And this is the great part – He is easy to please. You don’t have to pretend to be someone you are not! You can come in and put your feet on the couch- join the conversation – listen to the music!
Think of it, you trade your weariness, for His rest; your pain, for His comfort; your sorrow, for HIs joy; your sickness, for His healing; your sin, for His redemption!
It seems something so good to be true – just open the door, let Him in, you’ll see…
