REST UP! Tis the Season!

Editor’s Note: For the next couple of weeks you will be favored with writers from our HeartLife Ministry Team. We know you will enjoy their insight and fresh perspective!

It’s always good to rest. To ” be still” and KNOW that He is God! Well a group of our Heartlife Leadership will be allowing our founder to “Rest UP”! Everyone deserves to take a break and exhale. Life has brought forth some very challenging times within our Heartlife Family and our community. This year has probably brought forth some of the hardest challenges we have ever seen within my family.  To be quite honest I have not felt much energy to pick up and go. I have been extremely mentally exhausted. I recognize I cannot stay in this place, however I also cannot just keep running on empty. It is so important to take the time to rest. I’m reminded of Jesus who went to take a nap while He allowed the disciples to sail the ship while He rested. In Mark 4:38-41i It was not long before they realized they could not handle the boat when the winds and the storms came:

38 Jesus was back in the stern of the boat, sound asleep on a cushion, when the disciples shook Him awake.Disciples (shouting over the storm): Jesus, Master, don’t You care that we’re going to die?39 He got up, shouted words into the wind, and commanded the waves. Jesus: That’s enough! Be still! And immediately the wind died down to nothing, the waves stopped. Jesus: 40 How can you be so afraid? After all you’ve seen, where is your faith?

The disciples needed to rest assured that Jesus would not let them perish, that He was there on the ship with them and that all they needed to do was trust HIm. I am in a season along with many others where it has been very difficult to remember that Jesus is there in the midst of so many difficult storms. Even as He asked the disciples, How can you be afraid, after all you have seen? It feels so much easier said than done. But it is our assignment to trust Him no matter what.

I would like to encourage you today as I encourage myself, take some time to rest in Him, Rest on His promises. He has never and will never leave us or forsake us! He is right there with us telling us to rest. Telling us to Be Still!  Grateful to give my mom some time to rest! Continue to lift her up in prayer as she makes sure she refuels for 2022.

God Bless You
