Expectation – 2022?
Statistically speaking most people craft their goals and expectations for a new year. Usually there are lofty goals and even loftier expectations! Yet, little thought is given as to how those goals and expectations will be achieved. Yes, it is easy to say, “I’m going to the gym every day so I can lose those ten holiday pounds.” It is harder to determine how you are going to fit the gym into your already crammed day. It is easy to say that”, I am going to save this year to build my savings”; it is a lot harder to determine where you are going to get extra money from an already strained budget.
Yet, there is a way out of the wilderness, going to the Proverbs is one step:
Know that [skillful and godly] wisdom is [so very good] for your life and soul;
If you find wisdom, then there will be a future and a reward,
And your hope and expectation will not be cut off. Proverbs 24:13-14 (AMP)
Solomon in another Proverb had this to say:
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7 (KJV)
Looking at the first scripture it is says that wisdom from God is good for your life and your soul and that finding it will give you a reward of your hope and expectation. Solomon in the second scripture said that wisdom was the principal thing and therefore we should get it, and not only get wisdom but get an understanding. Great words of admonition, but how to you get these things?
By taking a Proverb each day, or even a portion of. a Proverb, you will gain wisdom. For in the book of Proverbs there is a treasury of wisdom. Reading it and then praying and asking how it can apply to your life is a great way of obtaining wisdom.
Now for the understanding. Most of us human creatures don’t really understand a lot of the things that happen in life until we go through some kind of experience that helps us. The good news is that we don’t have to wait to experience everything to gain understanding. The Holy Spirit that abides in us as believers helps us to understand situations that we’ve never experienced because He is the author of understanding and more than that, compassion.
13 But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, he will unveil the reality of every truth within you. John 16:13 (TPT)
Our Father has not entered us into a race we cannot win, nor has He put the stakes so high we can’t obtain; go forth with goals and expectations, just make sure you’re following the One who can make it happen!
