Be Carefree in the Care of God!
Imagine a time when you were care – free. After what we have been going through the past couple of years, it is hard to imagine a time when there was not some kind of pressing concern, so serious that it even hinges on life and death. Yet, Jesus admonished us not to be concerned with cares:
Take the carefree birds as your example. Do you ever see them worry? They neither grow their own food nor put it in a storehouse for later. Yet God takes care of every one of them, feeding each of them out of the abundance of his love and goodness. Isn’t your life more precious to God than a bird? Be carefree in the care of God. Luke 12:24 (TPT)
Jesus uses the example of birds in this passage – do you think that birds are worried about whether or not they are going to get covid 19? Do you think that they are concerned about whether any one of their flock will be taken away from them. Of course not. Though they travel and habitat in community, they don’t worry about how that community is going to be provided for. And Jesus says, our life is much more precious than that of a bird! I love this next statement: “Be carefree in the care of God.”
What an amazing truth there is intrinsic in this statement. We can live in such a way that we don’t have a care in the world if we enter into the care of God. Don’t rush through this statement. Take the time to chew on every word and the meaning behind them. This is a game changer. It can cause us to go from a stressed out hypertensive type to a peaceful, calm, trusting type. Our hope won’t be in what we can accomplish, but what God wants to accomplish through us. Our days won’t be filled with fighting battles, rather we will acknowledge and allow the battle to belong to the Lord.
My prayer today is that I will fully receive these simple words and that they will permeate every fiber of my being to to the extent that:
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
