Wars and Other Scary Things…

When I was a little girl I was easily frightened. Whether it was the dark of night, or when things that go creepy in the day and night moved around, I spent a lot of time wishing I had a protector. It only intensified in the neighborhood that I grew up in where there were plenty of scary people walking around. Needless to say, the talk of war makes me very uncomfortable, even if it is thousands of miles away:

You will continually hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end [of the age]. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs [of the intolerable anguish and the time of unprecedented trouble]. Matthew 24:8:(AMP)

Matthew 24 reminds us that wars will be a constant in our days, and they are not even the tip of the iceberg, more difficult things are on the way. When I hear of these kinds of things now, I have only one response. It is from the 56th Division of Psalms:

When I am afraid,
I will put my trust and faith in You. Psalm 56:3 (AMP)

This is not just a go-to verse for me, this is my constant confession. I have history with this God that I put my trust and faith in and I can testify that He has never failed me yet. As Peter responded to Jesus,

Simon Peter answered, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You [alone] have the words of eternal life [you are our only hope].John 6:69 (AMP)
